See your days until calculator at a glance - no need to open the app. Countdownn adds beautiful countdown widgets to your iPhone Home Screen, Lock Screen, and StandBy display in multiple sizes and styles.
Countdown widgets are live tiles that display your countdown timers directly on your iPhone's Home Screen, Lock Screen, or StandBy display - without opening the app. You can glance at your phone and instantly see how many days until your next birthday, vacation, or deadline.
Countdownn supports all major iOS widget surfaces: Home Screen (small, medium, large sizes), Lock Screen (inline, rectangular, circular), and StandBy display (full landscape view for iPhone charged on its side). Each widget updates automatically every time your countdown changes.
Make sure Countdownn is installed and you have at least one countdown event created. The widget will display one of your existing countdowns.
Long press any empty area on your iPhone Home Screen until the icons start to jiggle and a + button appears in the top left corner.
Tap the + button to open the Widget picker. In the search bar at the top, type Countdownn to find the app's widgets.
Swipe through the available sizes: Small (2ร2 grid), Medium (2ร4), and Large (4ร4). Each size shows different amounts of countdown information.
Tap the blue Add Widget button. The widget appears on your Home Screen. Drag it to your preferred position and tap Done.
Long press the Lock Screen โ tap Customise โ tap the lock screen โ tap the widget area โ search Countdownn โ choose a Lock Screen widget style (inline, rectangular, or circular).
Countdownn uses Apple's WidgetKit framework to render and update widgets. Widgets are refreshed by the system on a schedule - typically every 15โ60 minutes - ensuring your countdown is always current without draining battery.
Home Screen widgets appear on your app icon pages. Lock Screen widgets appear above or below the time display. StandBy widgets appear in full landscape mode when your iPhone is charging sideways with iOS 17+.
Lock Screen widgets automatically adapt to your wallpaper's colour and contrast settings. Home Screen widgets use the full colour palette - gradients, photos, solid colours - matching your chosen countdown design.
Tap and hold any placed widget โ tap Edit Widget to change which countdown event it displays. Each widget instance can show a different event, so you can place multiple widgets for your top countdowns.
iOS controls widget refresh timing to preserve battery life. Widgets typically update every 15โ60 minutes rather than every second. If a widget appears stuck, open Countdownn briefly - this forces an immediate widget refresh. Also check that Background App Refresh is enabled for Countdownn in iOS Settings.
Yes! You can add as many Countdownn widgets as you want - each showing a different event. For example, place a large Christmas widget on one Home Screen page and a Birthday widget on another. Each widget is independently configurable to show any countdown from your list.
Yes. On iPad, you can add Countdownn widgets to the Home Screen and Today View just like on iPhone. On Mac (macOS 12+), widgets appear in the Notification Centre. With iCloud sync (Pro feature), all your countdowns stay in sync across iPhone, iPad and Mac, so your widgets show the same data everywhere.
