What is the Photo Locker feature?

The Photo Locker is a secure private photo vault built directly into Gallery โ€“ Photo Locker app for iPhone. It lets you hide photos and videos from your main gallery, protecting them behind an authentication layer. Unlike hidden albums in iOS, these photos are completely invisible to anyone without the correct PIN or biometric.

The gallery vault works entirely offline - your private photos never leave your iPhone, are never uploaded to any cloud service, and are never accessible without your authentication. It's the most secure way to hide photos iphone app users trust.

How to Use the Photo Locker

How the Photo Locker Works

Understanding the secure photo locker app technology that keeps your private photos truly private on iPhone.

๐Ÿ”‘

On-Device Authentication

Your PIN and biometric credentials are stored in the iPhone's Secure Enclave - the same hardware chip used for Apple Pay. The app never transmits or stores passwords on any server.

๐Ÿ“

Sandboxed Storage

Locked photos are moved to the app's private sandboxed storage area on your device. iOS prevents any other app from accessing this area - including Apple's own Photos app.

๐Ÿšซ

Zero Cloud Footprint

The gallery vault is 100% offline. No iCloud sync, no backup to any external server, no internet required. Your private photos exist only on your physical device.

Invisible to System Gallery

Photos moved to the locker are removed from your iPhone's main Photos app and gallery. They become completely invisible until you authenticate inside Gallery app.

Photo Locker Questions

Can someone bypass the Photo Locker if they have my iPhone? +

No. Locked photos are stored in a sandboxed app folder that no other app - including iOS itself - can access. Without your PIN or biometric authentication inside Gallery app, the locked photos are completely inaccessible. Even if someone has physical access to your unlocked iPhone, they cannot see your vault photos without the PIN.

What happens to my photos if I delete the app? +

If you delete Gallery app, photos in the vault will be deleted along with the app's sandboxed storage. Before deleting, always unlock and move your photos back to the main gallery. We recommend doing this as a precaution before any app deletion or iPhone reset.

What if I forget my PIN? +

If you forget your PIN, you can use Face ID or Touch ID to authenticate (if enabled). If you cannot authenticate at all, you may need to reset the vault. For security reasons, there is no "forgot PIN" recovery - this ensures nobody else can bypass your lock. Always remember your PIN or enable biometrics as a backup.

Are locked photos backed up to iCloud? +

Photos in the Gallery vault are NOT synced to iCloud Photos or any cloud service. They exist only on your device in the app's private storage. If you want to keep a backup, unlock the photos first and add them to your iCloud-synced album. This design choice is intentional - it keeps your private photos truly private.

Can I lock videos too? +

Yes! The Gallery vault supports locking both photos and videos. You can lock individual videos or entire albums that contain video files. All locked media - regardless of type - requires authentication to access.
