Welcome
Thank you for using the Metal Detector app. This page provides assistance, answers to common questions, and guidance to help you get the best experience from your device’s magnetic field detection capabilities.
FAQs
How does the Metal Detector app work?
The app uses your device’s built-in magnetometer sensor to detect changes in the surrounding magnetic field. When metal objects are nearby, the field strength changes, and the app alerts you visually and optionally through sound and vibration.
What can it detect?
- Ferromagnetic metals such as iron and steel
- Electronic components and hidden wiring
- Small magnetic objects like coins, keys, and screws
What devices are supported?
Most iPhones and iPads with a built-in magnetometer (iPhone 5s and newer) are supported. Devices without a magnetometer cannot measure magnetic fields and will show an error.
Why does the app show 0 or not respond?
- Ensure your device has a magnetometer.
- Restart the app and ensure it has proper permissions.
- Try waving your device in a figure-8 pattern to recalibrate the sensor.
Settings & Features
- Sound Alerts: Enable sound notifications when metal is detected.
- Haptic Feedback: Activate vibration alerts on detection.
- Custom Sound: Choose from various alert tones to suit your preference.
- History View: See recent detection levels plotted in a live graph.
Troubleshooting
High battery or CPU usage?
- Use the app only when needed and close it afterward.
- Avoid running other heavy apps in the background.
- Lower update frequency if available in settings.
No sound or haptic feedback?
- Check that your device isn't in silent mode.
- Enable sound and haptic toggles in the app settings.
- Ensure you have not disabled vibration in system settings.
